"We made our way church to church with a similar pattern. We would survey the damage, pray with the people and encourage them. We would then give out medication to those in need and conclude by encouraging the children with balloons and smiles." - CSI at work...

Haiti Update

1/14/2010

Well as we continue to track the news, Haiti is looking worse daily. While it might be jumping the gun, I do believe we will need some medical teams on the ground in the next 2-3 weeks. Once the news crews have all gone away and there is a more interesting story in the news, the people of Haiti will still be suffering and I believe we can make a difference. CSI is beginning preliminary planning for medical teams to go into Haiti. If anyone is interested in going to Haiti please contact Sandy Leaman our coordinator, sleaman@fincorsolutions.com. Keep in mind we are at least 2-3 weeks out on sending medical teams in but we will probably make several trips with the medical teams. Please note that on a good day Haiti is a rough place and now it will be even worse. There will be danger in making these trips.

This is just the beginning but we’ll know more once the SMART team gives us a report. They are currently on the ground in Santo Domingo working on logistics to get over to Haiti. If you know someone who would like to donate, please direct them to one of our websites www.upci.org, www.foreignmissions.com or www.compassionservices.org. You can also follow us on the new Compassion Services FACEBOOK page and all of our web pages have direct online giving. We will also begin to collect medications and supplies for use by the medical teams. For now, please use the following list for donated items. You may send them to 8855 Dunn Road, Hazelwood, MO 63042.

As always, let’s keep the Haitian people in our prayers and let’s pray for the safety of the SMART team.
